"“Ice Wear” Presentation" (Non-Judged)
The purpose of “Ice Wear” Presentation is to represent some of the Pride colors. You must include either Blue and/or Purple, however, you must include white in the presentation. Please show your pride creativity. (Remember you are not being judged) You may use stones. (No “FIRE”, “WATER”, “ICE” or etc. is allowed). Outfits can range from high fashion couture, to show-stopping costumes, to welltailored themed outfits. The sky is the limit in this presentation as long as you can present it well through your creativity and modeling. You want to set the bar for yourself, as you are not only marketing as, Miss Ice, but you are also marketing yourself.
"Panel Discussion"
The purpose of Panel Discussion (also known as Group Interview) is to give the judges a chance to interview a group of contestants at the same time in a round-table format. Each Panel Discussion will be a maximum of fifteen (15) minutes. The number of contestants per each Panel Discussion will be finalized once the total number of contestants in the pageant is determined. But the number of contestants per Panel Discussion will never exceed five (5) contestants. At the beginning of Panel Discussion, you will be given a maximum of ninety (90) seconds to tell the judges about yourself and to present your platform and community involvement. Once each contestant completes his/her individual presentation, the actual group discussion will begin. A moderator will present the topics of discussion, ensuring that each topic is discussed for no more than three (3) minutes before moving on to the next topic. During the discussion, the judges will listen to and analyze the conversation, gaining insight into the basic qualities of your personal character, such as awareness, attitude and your ability to communicate effectively. The judges will also get to see how well you interact socially and intellectually with the other contestants in your group while discussing and debating the presented topics. The judges will evaluate your self-confidence and your ability to present your thoughts and opinions both concisely and directly. If a fellow contestant presents an answer to which you agree and/or disagree, you have the opportunity to speak up politely at any time and present your personal opinion on the topic. Your abilities to manage the discussion and to present yourself as an effective speaker are key components of the judges’ evaluation. Panel Discussion is intended to be professional in nature so suggested attire is business professional. You have the option to attend panel discussion in either the attire of your illusion/persona (Miss Contestants in female make-up and attire and Mr. Contestants in male make-up and attire) or in the attire of your true self (how you identify yourself each and every day). The judges will analyze your appearance for neatness and cleanliness. Hair, makeup and accessories are all components of your overall appearance. Please note that your Panel Discussion score will be included in both the preliminary night calculation and final night calculation (see the “Scoring” section later in this handbook). Judges will score the category based upon: Content of Answers (50), Ability to Communicate (50), Personality/Self Confidence (50) and Appearance (50). Total point score is 200 points per judge.
"Talent"
The purpose of Talent is to showcase the contestant’s entertaining abilities. Talents can be a variety, ranging from singing, dancing, illusion, and beyond. The key is to be comfortable in what you present and for the audience and judges to be entertained. The talent presentation is limited to SIX (6) MINUTES per contestant. The talent presentation may be solo or production. Each contestant is allowed to use backup dancers and personnel. The use of props is allowed, though setup time is limited to a maximum of TWO (2) MINUTES and take down time is limited to a maximum of TWO (2) MINUTES. Your talent presentation and setup/take down times may not exceed their allowable time limits. If limits are exceeded, an administrative deduction of five (5) points PER judge will be taken for each infraction. Absolutely NO liquid (other than water in a secured bottle), fire, loose glitter, live animals, loose hay (hay must be sealed in plastic), confetti or any other material that will leave destructive debris or residue will be allowed on the stage or in the venue at any time before, during or after the pageant. The use of a fog machine is NOT ALLOWED. Any use of these items will definitely result in an administrative deduction of five (5) points PER judge for each infraction. Any use of these items could also result in removal from the venue at the discretion of the venue owner depending on the severity of the violation. Contestants can retain, add to and/or completely change the talent presentation (ie change costumes, change choreography, add dancers, add props, etc) as well as the music from preliminary to final night. Judges will score category based on: Costuming (50), Choreography/Stage Presence (50), Live Vocal/Lip Sync (50) & Overall Entertainment Value (150). Total point score is 300 points per judge.
"Pride Wear"
The purpose of Pride Wear is to be a clothing category designed to show the contestant’s pride and creativity, as well as modeling ability. Outfits can range from high fashion couture, to show-stopping costumes, to well-tailored themed outfits. The sky is the limit in this category as long as you can present it well through your creativity and modeling. The REQUIREMENT for this category is that your outfit must be in a combination of AT LEAST three (3) colors of the modern gay pride flag, up to using all six (6) colors of the modern gay pride flag (see the graphic above for the colors allowed in your outfit). These colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. They do NOT include pastels, color variations, black or white. They must be the modern gay pride flag colors. Crystal and aurora borealis rhinestones ARE NOT permitted. Colored rhinestones ARE allowed but they must be in the colors of the modern gay pride flag. Fleshtoned illusion is allowed but must match your natural skin tone. The only exceptions to the requirement of the modern gay pride flag colors are the backs of jewelry, the soles of the shoes and your hair color. Contestants are able to retain, add to and/or completely change Pride Wear, including music, from preliminary night to final night. You will be given a maximum of one (1) minute to present your Pride Wear. Please make sure that your Pride Wear music is timed for one (1) minute or less. If your presentation or music exceeds one minute, an administrative deduction of five (5) points PER judge will be taken for each infraction. Judges will score this category based on: Pride and Creativity (100), Modeling Ability/Presentation (50) and Overall Appearance (50). Total point score is 200 points per judge.
